Historic Election and Historic President

Its official the president of the United States in Barack Obama!!!

On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States. In an historic campiagn that was luanched in 2007 in Springfield Ill. The then junior senator from Ill announced he was running for president. Against tremedous odds being an African American, and running against the clear favorite Hilary Clinton Barack Obama is living prove that anything is possible with his historic victory.

Recently a group of students and I were asked how we felt about Obamas election, and inauguration, heres my answer:

As an African American male words cannot describe they way I feel about Obamas Inauguration. The moment after Obama was sworn in I thought about my family, my ancestors, and slaves. The Martin Luther Kings, Malcolm X, WEB Du Bois, Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, Harriet Tubman. All the pioneers thats paved the way for us African Americans to achieve the things that we have. I can only imagine the party they are having in heaven. Barack Obama is an historic achievement for our country, an the African American race. However people will ask, is this the end of racism? No its not. Martin Luther King had a dream that we as a people would reach the mountain top. We as a people haven't reached it but we are walking briskly.
